100% self-centered afternoon Saturday: dropped off books at Ukazoo, went to the library to look up Wizard of Oz books for Olivia (okay, maybe that makes the afternoon only 95% self-centered?), picked up spankin’ new Shimano SPD shoes at REI. Then, went for 10 mile ride (down to the Avenue and back…). Sat on the porch, drank a Brooklyn IPA, and cleaned bike. Lots of grime built up. Cleaned and waxed the chain, steel-wooled the rims, roughed up the brake pads with 80 grit sandpaper.

Heated up some slippery pot pie leftovers and kept at it till 7pm. Then did the dishes and read some more of Into the Wild.

The girls and Jen came home from the birthday party and we read some books and hit the hay.

Yesterday we were going to visit an intentional community in Pennsyltucky, but that fell through. So we went up to Oregon Ridge for lack of anything more exciting to do. stopped in at Noodle company near wegmans so the gurrs could have some nutrition first. Nattie fell asleep on the way home….

ouch, my legs are sore.

tonight, I’ll break 700 miles. then I’m going to take several days off from riding and gear up for the final 300 before December 31st.

Yeah, I’m pretty darned proud.

this week, I will hit 700 miles on my 11 year old Trek 6500. this should set me up well to hit 1000 miles by december. that’s roughly one-quarter ton of CO2 output reduced.
