wtf does it stand for? I still don’t know. Southwest-Hobo? SW or best offer. Some White Otter Bridged Oxford?
Well, for me it means fun. And the Salvation of family time. I mean, just look at those kiddies running from “big crazy daddy with the bushy beard trying to run us down!”
and here’s one for ya, the “we respect each other both as individuals and as a homogenized familial collective”:
Sure, it wasn’t the best day to git a new set of wheels, but even Natty got in the game with some off-roadin’ adventure:
All I can say is thank you, Swobo. Thank you.
Oh, and the bike is really fast and smooth. So simple, so light. And the coaster brake kicks ass.
9:30am - coffee at mom’s house, then 2 hours of ripping insulation out of the roof in her attic that the former owner erroneously installed. itchy.
2:45pm to 4pm - go to lowe’s to look at “green” insulation with ma. then, off to REI to spend dividend and use up coupon. bought jen a new shirt in her favorite color - brown.
5:15pm - off to Suzie’s Soba for a treat. Olivia falls asleep on the way. Napless Natalie rages in her usual way. Calms down a bit when the beef dumplings and tempura are served.
I forget what we did when we got home. Clearly, wrestling the kids into sleep was part of it. Read some Neil Gaiman story.
Sun
up at 7:30am - coffee and viewed ballet videos on youtube with Natalie. also watched a video of Bob Burnquist and the largest skate ramp ever built. Insane:
11am - the girls go to church with Jennifer. I re-surface the top of my work bench in the basement with a nice piece of 1/2 inch plywood.
12pm - I’m out front with the trailer hitched to the bike for an exciting ride to grandma’s house (0.3 miles) to help distract the girls while Jen makes a quick getaway to have lunch with some friends.
1:30ish to 3:30ish - battling tree-like weeds in mom’s garden space out back. the wind picks up and it gets chilly.
3:30ish - ride the bike home with the girls in tow.
4:30 to 5:00 - Olivia helps me make a pegboard above the workbench in the basement. we reclaim some wood from an old project and improvise. Olivia is totally into it and loving it as I instruct her to stand on the bench and help me attach the pegboard to the wall. I start the screws and she finishes ‘em off with the DeWalt. At one points she hoists the DeWalt above her head and says, “look at me! I can hold it up over my head!”
5:15 - whipped up a quick leftovers dinner for Olivia because she is “so sleepy” from our “big project” She says mashed potatoes with turkey and some broccoli will be a “really fine” dinner.
Olivia goes to sleep early, but Natty is up late becuz she passed out at 4:30. Once she’s asleep I pass out.
What a weekend!
oh, right. the whole point of the title of this is that my bike is going to be coming today and I’m having trouble focusing…
